Went on a Saturday night after skiing in Weston. It was near closing time so they seated us and served us quickly which was fine. Ordered enchiladas. When the food was brought out by one of the cooks, he placed one of the hot plates on my wife's hand and burned it. She had a minor burn and it was painful for a couple of days. Neither the cook, waiter or owner apologized or offered to make amends. This is a new restaurant and I won't be going back on account of their p*$$ poor customer service.

I'm so glad that we gave Mexico Lindo another shot. We made the mistake of eating here during opening week during a large party and the result was a disaster. I held off on a writing a review, however, because I just felt like that AWFUL of an experience had to be just a fluke. 4 months later, we noticed a Grand Opening sign on the building, which while confusing, we decided that this was our chance to give ML a redo. Giving a local business a 2nd try, aren't we good Samaritans? Okay fine, it might have been the sign for $3 house margaritas that really got our attention. :) From the second we walked in the service was honestly really incredible. They were super friendly, on top of everything and we barely waited. This already was a 100% turnaround from our last visit. Our house margaritas were really good, the $3 special was just for this weekend, but I'd suck these down at $6 a pop even at their regular price. I typically only do fruit margaritas like strawberry (since I'm such an adult), but the regular, on the rocks ones that they have for their house were really good and not too limey for me. We followed up with the cheese dip to have with our chips and salsa. The salsa was another improvement over last time. Flavorful and not just a bowl of water... this time it had chucks of tomatoes and onion and cilantro.. yum! The cheese dip was the same way.. this wasn't just a bowl of hot cheese, it had chucks of veggies in it and we used the leftovers to pour on our rice with our meals :) Definitely not a stingy portion! For my meal I had the cactus enchiladas. As vegetarians, we were happy to see a vegetarian section with 5 or 6 options in it. I was really happy with this meal. Even though they were enchiladas, I don't think they had any cheese on them. While that seems like a complaint, it isn't! The dish was light and filling, but didn't leave me feeling greasy and heavy. The cactus was cooked really well and covered in a red sauce that was much better than the red sauce we had on our first trip. The rice and beans were also good and fluffy.. well until we poured our leftover queso dip on it like the wannabe fat kids that we are :) And the icing on the cake? After checking in on Yelp, we found a 10% off our order coupon. WIN. I'm super happy we gave Mexico Lindo another shot. This is a great addition to Platte City.. and while I know the $3 house margaritas were just a special, I think they should stay open late and do $3 house margaritas after 8pm! I'd totally come here over Tanner's considering they have a nice patio here, a few solid beer options and a great little bar corner. I'll be back here again! So happy to have more SMOKE-FREE dining options in Platte City!!

Excellent food. Excellent service! Walked to the restaurant in a blizzard due to being stranded in a nearby hotel. After dinner, the bartender gave us a ride back to our hotel. How's that for service?! Will stop here again!

My son and I just had another lovely meal at Mexico Lindo. A sister restaurant to an old favorite, Ixtapa, on Barry Road, we were very excited to see this place open closer to home. Pollo Mexico Lindo is delicious, with a sauce to die for, and my son will actually eat tomatoes with his Tacos Jalisco.

Was in the KC area on business and had to stay in Platte City because hotels were full. Opted to use Yelp to see what was in the area rather than drive 10 miles south to an area with restaurants I was familiar. Read a couple of reviews on this place and decided go give it a try. Glad I did!!! Had the queso fundido for an appetizer, scrumptious. Very tasty with the right amount of spice. Main course was the Mariposa Jalisco with steak. The beef was cooked perfectly! Hard to cook a thin cut of beef medium to medium rare, but they did. The sauce was very tasty with just the right amount of spice. Not overwhelming, just enough to excite your taste buds. Being from Texas, I eat a lot of Mexican food. Having travelled in Mexico, this was truly "authentic" in flavor and presentation. The service was excellent. The residents of Platte City have a gem in this restaurant. This would be worth a drive from KC to enjoy the dishes.

Okay, went on Friday night. Just opened a few days earlier, and well, it showed. There was a wait for a table, so we went and sat at the bar. Someone told us they would be right with us, waited 15 minutes and no one showed. Were seated. Chips and salsa came quick, they were ok. Better tham average but not worth writing home about. Ordered some really excellent margaritas at the table. And the guacamole, also tasty even if a little heavy on the lime. Seems things were looking up for our little evening? Not. Waited at least 11 eternities for our food to show. They apologized several times, and it was ok, they just opened, got to iron the kinks out. Then food showed, and had to wait another 10 minutes for tortillas. Getting crankier... Food was just ok. I love, love, love mexican food. Favorite food, bar none. And this was sadly bland. Red sauce tasted like marina on the garlic shrimp entree. Spinach enchiladas had red pepper flakes for heat. This isn't pizza... We coulsnt finish it all, so we got some boxes. Then, waited at least 30 minutes for the check. Our waotress refused to acknowledge us, and all the other staff seemed to disappear. Finally brought the check...paid, left. Unhappy. Disappointed. So, they got some work to do. I really hope this place turns it around quick, platte city is in dire need of decent food options. I'd probably return here over Maria's, but that's not saying much. We will return in a couple weeks, and if they turn it around by then, I'll make sure and update.

Went on a Wednesday night. Seated promptly and restaurant was pretty full. Chips and salsa came fast as did drinks. Food came quickly and was very tasty. Not as spicy as some may like, but mind you this isn't Tex-mex, it's traditional Mexican food.

Lunch. Monday was not too busy. Was good food. A bit bland, but overall good. Had a chicken entree. Th rice and beans lack much flavor. Place was clean. I would stop by again for a quick bite while heading north.

Don't waste your money. 3 of us went on a Friday, 2 of us ordered street tacos, the other ordered a burrito. Add 1 appetizer and 2 cocktails and the bill was $54.00!!!! The food was greasy and the salsa tasted like it was diluted with water. Way overpriced for lackluster Mexican food. Go to Maria's down the road.

Have been twice. Both times had excellent service and food. My wife had Tamales and flautitas from the appetizer menu. Both were excellent and "real". I had A Mole Poblano with chicken. The mole was excellent complex and deep. I also had the the tacos especiales. Double corn tortillas excellent fillings. It's nice to have a traditional Mexican restaurant in Platte City. We will go back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
